Candlelighters is very pleased to be working with the students at Algonquin College’s Event Management program. The students together in groups are working hard to plan fundraising events coming up in March and April. Candlelighters is very fortunate to benefit from the proceeds. A Taste of France

March 20, 2021
5:00 – 7:00 PM EST

Can you picture yourself in a Parisian café indulging in a “pain au chocolate” while sipping on a “café au lait?” If so, joins us on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 from 5-7 pm EST for A Taste of France; a virtual evening of French inspired food and drinks. The evening begins as you are transported to a charming Paris alley featuring live music, a wine and cheese pairing lead by a gregarious sommelier, teasing your taste buds with the different regions of France. From there, the alluring smell of fresh pastries will make your mouth water as you participate in a baking workshop. The evening is capped off with a French inspired cocktail and mocktail workshop that will make you feel like you’re in a chic bar on the Champ Elysée. All proceeds from this event will go to Candlelighters, an Ottawa based charity that offers childhood cancer support programs.

Hops(s) on Board

Calling all beer lovers! Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 20, 6:30 – 8:30pm and plan to attend “HOP(s) On Board”, a virtual yet interactive craft beer experience. We’ll all meet in the exclusive VIP lounge for a masterclass in craft beer tasting led by a certified cicerone. You will learn about the components of beer tasting including appearance, aroma, flavour, mouthfeel, finish, and flavour interactions. Your FLIGHT attendant will let you know when it’s time to HOP on board – you’ll travel to 3 different breweries for a tasting of their craft beer. These FLIGHTS are sure to excite your palette. We’ll TOP-OFF the experience, with a HOP Culture Trivia game to give you an opportunity to win great prizes. Attend this virtual event at no charge. Fundraising opportunities via donations and silent auction pre and during the event is in support of the Candlelighters, a local, not-for-profit organization who offers programs and services to young cancer patients and their families in Ottawa. Your taste buds will be treated to an array of classic aromatic hops while you enjoy four perfectly chilled craft beers. The smell of fresh buttery, Bavarian pretzels will fill the room as a chef joins us in preparing and crafting these delicious treats! A quick and easy to make German beer cheese will provide the perfect dipping partner for your pretzels. Throughout the event, an accordion artist will delight with their upbeat and energetic music, creating the true Octoberfest atmosphere. You will feel joyful while you laugh along with our stand-up comedian. An enthusiastic host will engage with interesting fun facts throughout the evening. This event is being held as a charity fundraiser for the Candlelighters and throughout the evening you will have the opportunity to bid on some amazing packages. Whether you’re a seasoned outdoorsperson, or simply curious about the abundance of experiences Canada’s wilderness has to offer, there will be something for everyone. Anglers & orienteering experts will share best practices and answer your questions, ensuring your next foray into the wilderness will have positive results. As Canadians, we may be renowned for our “niceness”, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t keen on a little friendly competition! You’ll have the chance to win some sweet prizes, while savouring quintessential maple treats during How Canadian Are You? – a wildly Canadian Trivia Game!   This one-of-a-kind experience will touch your heart as you meet and learn about Candlelighters and how they help children battling cancer and their families.
