Survivorship is most often the longest part of the childhood cancer journey. The following programs have been put in place by Candlelighters to meet the ongoing needs of the membership. Candlelighters is committed to addressing the need for additional support in the survivor population.

Candlelighters Survivor Support include:


YSI – Youth Survivor Initiative

YSI is a program for Candlelighters members aged 13-18 who have been off treatment for a minimum of 1 year. The purpose of the group is to provide teen survivors with an opportunity to connect in a social setting. The YSI Program runs September to June with a variety of events planned throughout the year.

Education Support – Survivors

This program gives childhood cancer survivors an opportunity to apply for financial support to assist their educational endeavours. The program is for school aged and adolescent survivors of childhood cancer who are coping with cognitive late effects of the cancer treatment that is negatively impacting their educational endeavours.

Survivor Counselling

Survivors of childhood cancer often have long term affects that could benefit from counselling. This program provides funding and opportunity to access psychosocial care .
